We Only Disqualified Students Without Basic Education Certificate-Perm. Sec.

The Nasarawa state Ministry Of Education, Science and Technology has said that only students with Basic Education Certificate 2012 or who sat for the state common Mock Examination 2014 are eligible to benefit from the ongoing free National Examination Council (NECO) sponsored by the current administration in the state, This was contained in a press release signed by permanent secretary of the ministry, Usman Sani Umar and made available to Journalists.

The press release further added that those disqualified from sitting for NECO lacks the basic requirement, and that those disqualified also include those that failed to submit their entry forms.

The Ministry however warned mischief-makers within the education sector making negative remarks in the handling of NECO examination, The press release unveiled according to the release, it said that the entire staff of the ministry are committed than ever in ensuring that the full implementation of the planned programmes and policies of the present regime in line with the best educational practices in the country. It also called on parents and guardians to support the current administration in its relentless efforts towards the upliftment of the standard of education in the state.

The press release follows last week protest stage by students disqualified from sitting for 2015 NECO examination.

In another development, complaints has continued to trail the ongoing free education in the state as some principals and staff of Government schools are making bumper harvest in spite of the strict warning by the government.

It was reliably gathered that principals and staff of some public schools extort year one session school fees from external students that are desperate to sit for NECO.

The State Commissioner of Education, Hussaini Abubakar in telephone conversation expressed shock over the continuous illegal collection by government officials.

“We will not condone such habit of extortion by principals and their staff, I am asking parent to go back and claim their registration fees, He promise to step on toes of erring principals /staff by bringing defaulters to book.
