The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has secured a sweeping victory in the Adamawa State Local Government Elections, winning all 21 chairmanship seats and councillorship positions across the state’s 226 wards.
Mohammed Umar, chairman of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), announced the results on Monday at the commission’s headquarters in Yola following the completion of the collation process.
The declaration was witnessed by security personnel, election observers, political party representatives and ADSIEC commissioners.
Umar said the elections were successfully conducted in all parts of the state, with the PDP emerging victorious in every local government area and ward. He, however, did not disclose the total number of votes cast during the exercise.
The ADSIEC chairman praised residents for their peaceful conduct before, during and after the elections, noting that their cooperation contributed significantly to the smooth and orderly process witnessed across the state.
He also commended security agencies, electoral officials and other stakeholders for their roles in ensuring a peaceful election, describing the exercise as a success and a reflection of the commitment of Adamawa people to democratic governance at the grassroots level.
