The Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has said that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP leaders in the State, had fed largely on the common treasury of the State and that is why their staying out of Power for 4 years, is to them like 40 years, adding that there is no basis of comparison between his three year old administration and the twelve years spent in the State by the PDP.

Governor Okorocha spoke while inaugurating the State Executive Committee members of the Party, and their counterparts at the 27 Local Governments at the International Convention Centre, stating that the election of 2015 will be like a contest between light which he said APC represents and darkness which he said the PDP represents.
He said if the PDP government at both the Federal and State levels, had done well, APC would not have come on board, adding that the APC came up as a result of the failure of the PDP to move the country and the States in particular forward.
His words, “the PDP leaders in the State had fed on the economy or common purse of the State. The APC is a new party for a new Nigeria”. If you believe that Imo State has been transformed in 3 years, then APC is the Party good for the people of the State. PDP should also allow the APC to govern the State for 12 years they had so that Imo people can give their verdict.
He continued, “they said PDP is Igbo Party. How is it Igbo Party. Is the National Chairman or National Secretary or the President or the Vice-President or the Senate President or the Speaker of the House of Representatives an Igbo? The answer is no. Don’t forget, Boko Haram began several years before the formation of the APC. The PDP has only achieved putting money in their pockets, and nothing more”.
Governor Okorocha said the Imo PDP had left nothing behind in the Government House Owerri for the 12 years they occupied it as to come back in 2015 to take it; adding that when the time comes, the chaff will be separated from the wheat.
He however charged the APC leaders and members to be united and that the victory of the Party depends largely on how united the members are, advising the new State Exco of the Party to carry everybody along. He also told them that henceforth, having the meetings of the Party at the Government House had ceased, and that every meeting of the Party now would be at the Party’s Secretariat.
Leaders of the Party in the State had spoken before the governor including the Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, the Secretary to the Government of Imo State, SGI, Prof. Anthony Anwuka, Chief P.C. Onuoha, Dr. EJK Onyewuchi, and Dr. Amaechi, and they all stressed the need for unity of purpose among the Party leaders and members.
Some of those inaugurated that weekend were, the State Chairman, Dr. Hilary Ekeh, the Secretary, Barr. Emma Ibediro, Hon. Ugochukwu Nzekwe (Deputy-Chairman), Ifeanyi Onwueyiagba (Vice Chairman), Chief Christian Ogoma, (Vice-Chairman), G.N. Asika (Vice Chairman), Akubueze Batholomew (Youth leader), Mrs. Theresa Ohanugba (Women leader).
