Plateau state independent electoral commission (PLASIEC) has set 7th of December ,2013 for the conduct fresh election into Local Government poll .
The Electoral commission Chairman Mr Peter Dalyop who made the announcement after an interactive session with 19 political parties chairmen in Jos during a close door meeting at the conference Hall with Journalists in a press briefing.
Dalyop disclosed to. journalists that in view of the security challenges that lasted for several years the commission took their time to conduct fresh local government polls to usher in elected chairmen in December this year .
He said plateau state independent electoral commission election time table for 2013 local government elections as follow :issuance of notice Monday 2nd September,2013 pursuant to part IV section 20 plateau state legal law No 1of 13th may 2013 law ,Tuesday 3rd September to 6th Dec 2013 Midnight as determine by the commission, conduct of parties primaries 4th. Oct -11th Oct 2013 ,collection /return of forms to PLASIEC form 002 by candidates (Tuesday 22nd Oct -Wednesday 30th Oct 2013,while the verification//clearance of candidates Monday 4th Nov-Monday 11th 2013 according to section 67and 68 PLASIEC law 2013 ,publication of list of cleared candidates /verification of substituted candidates if any Wednesday 13th Nov-Friday 15th ,receiving of appeal cases Monday 18-Wednesday 20th 20th ,hearing of appeal cases Thursday 21st Friday 22nd November 2013.last day For the withdrawal of candidates Thursday 28th November ,2013 last day of submissions of PLASIEC form 002 for substituted candidates of political parties Saturday 30th November,2013 ,closing date of submissions of Names of polling agents to electoral officers/PLASIEC headquarters Saturday 30th November,2013.and last ay for campaigns Friday 6th December,2013 Midnight .
Dalyop emphasized that the time table for the conduct of the local government elections in plateau state activities on the time table commence with the issuance of notice of elections and terminated as schedule.
He commended the people of plateau for their patience and understanding ,we call on all the stakeholders and the general public to cooperate with PLASIEC toward the success of this elections.
Chairman of Labour Party in Plateau state Comrades Bulus Ibrahim said the disregard the guidelines been promised by the PLASIEC .
He expressed worry that the state independent is not been fear to the opposition ,there is a stipulate time which believe that we are yet to make head way .
Ibrahim said the meeting end in a deadlocked because PLASIEC refused to provide the time table and dateline which will guide our activities within 60 days but here we are waiting for government to give us date .
According to him, Labour party is prepare for the coming elections because of what is happening in the we shall win this elections.
Comrades Bulus Ibrahim added the invitation was to enable us amendment on the time table which we all agree to the process but we still afraid of what PLASiec doing
He applauded the contributions of the Media but urged them to be objective during the campaign period.
He decried that under the present regime the opposition are relegate out politics completely in the state
