Plateau SDP Holds Stakeholders’ Meeting To Strengthen Party Ahead Of General Elections

The Social  Democratic Party  (SDP) Plateau State chapter on Saturday held a crucial stakeholders’ meeting at the State Party Secretariat to reposition the party ahead the general elections.

Presiding over the meeting, the State Chairman, Rev.Rim Philip Jibi , deliberated with the stakeholders on strategies aimed at repositioning and strengthening the party in readiness for the forthcoming general elections.

According to him, the meeting extensively reviewed the current state of the party and identified critical areas requiring immediate attention to further consolidate the SDP’s position as the strongest opposition  political party in Plateau State to unseat the ruling APC in the forthcoming elections .

He explained further  that: “A major resolution reached at the meeting was the need to replaced the existing window candidates by  stakeholders’ engagement forum to reach agreement of the Party, to replace candidates to flag the party  tickets ,Rev Jibi added.

“Stakeholders observed that the present composition of party ideology  to replace candidates adequately reflect the landslide victory  of the  diverse structure of the SDP  in the state.

“The meeting therefore resolved that the stakeholders’ list should be amended  to accommodate all those willing  and ready to  serve as  members of the National and State Assemblies, and serving local government chairmen, as well as other critical stakeholders whose contributions have been instrumental to the growth and success of the party.

“It was further agreed that future participation in the stakeholders’ forum should no longer be determined by caucus considerations but by the demonstrated value, loyalty, commitment, and contributions of members to the ideals of the SDP  and the progressive philosophy championed by Presidential candidate  Prof. Prince Adebayo Adewale and the leadership of the party.

“The stakeholders also emphasized the need for greater discipline within the party.”

Speaking at the meeting, Hon. D.D Williams urged the party leadership to take appropriate disciplinary measures against members who engage in actions capable of bringing the party into disrepute, particularly through public attacks on the leadership of the party and its recognized leader in the state.

He said: “ individualism ,Such conduct undermines party unity, weakens public confidence in the SDp , and is detrimental to the collective interests of members.”

Likewise at the meeting, all elected placeholders unambiguously  step down and  advised the party  to carry the party structure along in the planning and implementation of such initiatives.

The stakeholders maintained that  programmes should be driven through the grassroots party structure to ensure that genuine party members benefit directly from the  political caucuses.

It was also stressed at the meeting that a significant percentage of  the party’s called  for unity and  promoting  peaceful coexistence  established structures, enabling local leaders to identify deserving members and address their specific needs across the state.

Stakeholders acknowledged the immense support provided by Presidential  candidate  of SDP  candidate’s as campaign  rescheduled for Sept 2nd for elections through logistics, mobilization, and other strategic interventions that contributed significantly to the victory of the party.

The meeting therefore encouraged elected representatives to complement these efforts by ensuring that party members who stood firmly behind them during elections are adequately settle .

Governorship candidate Sumput was commended by the stakeholders for the developmental strides being recorded across the state, particularly his ongoing bridge building, and other critical with his initiatives that he would transform communities and enhancing the physical outlook of Plateau and other parts of the state.

In his address at the meeting, the publicity secretary , reaffirmed the commitment of the party leadership to building a more inclusive and united SDP  capable of accommodating the aspirations of all members.

He disclosed that the proposed reconstitution of the Stakeholders’ would reflect the expanding request  structure of the party and foster greater unity, inclusiveness, and participation.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous vote of confidence in the State Chairman Rev.Rim Philip Jibi , , and the leadership of the SDP in Plateau State.

Also, stakeholders pledged to continue working together as one family to ensure overwhelming victories for the APC in future elections, including the re-election of President Tinubu and the success of all APC candidates seeking elective offices in the state.

He emphasized on the  supremacy of the SDP in the party structure rather than  promoting acrimony within the rank and file. 

We must continue to see the  party unity as cardinal to the  progress of the SDP across the length and breadth of the country  .
