As Nigeria prepares for another crucial election season, the Igbo Community Association, Federal Capital Territory (ICA FCT), the apex socio-cultural organization representing over two million Igbo residents in the nation’s capital, has issued an urgent call for unity among all Igbos in the FCT and across the diaspora, the group stated in a statement signed by *Engr. (Nze) Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe* , President General, ICA FCT.
Reflecting on the historical challenges and political marginalization experienced by the Igbo people since the end of the 1967–1970 civil conflict, the ICA FCT highlighted how disunity has adversely affected the political growth and leadership representation of Ndigbo in national governance.
The association emphasized that the upcoming political season presents a defining opportunity for Ndigbo to overcome long-standing hurdles, rebuild political strength, and secure their rightful place in shaping Nigeria’s future.
> “The youths and future generations of Ndigbo cannot allow disunity to continuously erode our collective strength and political influence,” the leadership stated. “A new dawn is upon us, and we must embrace it with courage, purpose, and total unity.”

To drive this movement, the ICA FCT announces the launch of a comprehensive Igbo Unity Campaign, officially commencing on November 21, 2026. This initiative will serve as an ongoing platform to foster solidarity, community engagement, and strategic alignment among Igbo people in the FCT and globally until total unity is realized.
The ICA FCT calls on all Igbo socio-cultural groups, youth bodies, elders, and leaders of thought to join hands in making this historic campaign a success.
