Okowa Appoints Former Governorship Aspirant, Ofuani DG Asaba Capital Development Agency

Facts emerging from Delta Government House are indicative that Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has appointed former Governorship aspirant, Chief Clement Ofuani, as Director General of the Asaba Capital Territory Development Agency, the agency to be saddled with the development and upgrading of Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Though the establishment of the agency is yet to be fully operational, indications are rife that Ofuani, who slugged it out with Okowa would resume soonest as the helmsman of the new agency in the state.

It was learnt that though he has been appointed by the state governor, his appointment would fully be confirmed after eventual screening by members of the state House of Assembly.

His appointment might not be unconnected with the fact that Ofuani dropped his ambition having lost at the governorship primaries and worked with Okowa until he emerged Governor at the general elections.

Ofuani served in various committees prior to his appointment. He served in the campaign committee and also served as Chairman of the transition committee leading to the handover to Okowa on May 29.

The bill for the establishment of the agency was sent to the state House of Assembly by the Governor less than four days after resuming office as governor of the state.

It was learnt that the bill was speedily read by the house and modalities quickly put in place to facilitate the quick takeoff of the agency.

The agency has the responsibility of transforming the state capital and adjourning communities to the dream of Deltans as the state capital was tactically abandoned by the immediate past administration of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan.
