The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the death of six persons, including four members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and a military personnel, following a fatal road accident involving a military gun truck and a commercial bus along the Girei-Song road.

The tragic incident occurred at about 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in the Narehi area of Girei Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued by Suleiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP the military vehicle was travelling from Gombi to Yola when it collided head-on with a commercial Hummer bus conveying five passengers from Yola to Mubi.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the impact of the collision caused the commercial bus to overturn and burst into flames. All five occupants of the bus were trapped and burnt to death.

The police said initial identification of the victims showed that four of the deceased were serving NYSC members posted to Adamawa State. Two of them were identified as Suleuman Juliet and Usman Shuaibu, both natives of Kaduna State, while efforts are ongoing to identify the remaining victims.

The Command also confirmed that one military personnel attached to the gun truck lost his life in the crash.
