NULGE National Auditor, Comrade Ayuba  Appeals For Implementation Of Minimum Wage To All Workers In Plateau

The National Auditor of the Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Ayuba Shamdung has made a passionate appeal to  Governor, Rt Hon Simon Bako Lalong to fully implement the new minimum wage to all workers Plateau State.

 

He asked the government to reconsider the consequential adjustment earlier agreed with the civil servants in the state to improve and motivate them for better service delivery.

 

Comrade Shamdung, made the passionate appeal while monitoring the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, branch elections, recently conducted across the seventeen local government councils in the state.

 

“You would recall, that the Plateau state government suspended the implementation of the negotiated minimum wage in the state in view of the ravaging effects of coronavirus on the global economy”.

 

The National Auditor, however, expressed optimism that the Plateau state government would implement the national minimum wage and its consequential adjustment as earlier entered with the labor union, adding, that the Governor is a man of integrity who matches words with actions.

 

He also commended the Governor for being up to date in the payment of workers’ salaries.

 

Comrade Shamdung also appealed to the seventeen local government councils chairmen in the state to make the welfare of workers their utmost priority to cushion the hardship occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

He pointed out that local government workers in Plateau state have been subjected to percentage payments for up to ten years dating back to the tenure of Jonah Jang. He however praised the Governor for saving smooth harmony between the labor and the state government.

 

The National Auditor commended  Governor Lalong for his forthright reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

According to him, the Governor’s motivating and consoling reaction to the pandemic in the state is highly commendable, and called on people of the state to support the government in the fight against the dreaded disease.

 

Ayuba Shamdung described the NULGE elections across the 17 local government councils as commendable which is free and fear.

 

 

He urged the government at all levels to emulate the same gesture to transform the tenets of our democracy.
