Nasarawa Deputy Governor Urge Journalists To Adhere To Code Of Ethics, Donates TV. Chairs, Table Tennis Board To NUJ

Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, has donated two plasma television and 50 plastics chairs, and a set of table tennis board and its accessories to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa state chapter.

 

Akabe stated this during the donation in Lafia, He said the gesture was in fulfillment of his promise when the Nigeria Union of Journalists paid him a courtesy call in August 2020.

 

The Deputy Governor also donated N100, 000 to be used as prize for the winners of the table tennis competition to be organized by NUJ.

 

He said the cash donation should be given to winners of Tennis competition, adding that the cash donation would promote sports in the state.

 

“I urged the Union to organize table tennis competition for Journalists in the state and the N100, 000 be used as the price for winners,” the deputy governor revealed.

 

He added that the TV and chairs were donated to improve facilities at the Press Central Lafia by making it more conducive for Journalists to relax after the day’s work.

 

He noted that journalists have contributed a lot to the development of the state by publicizing the activities of the government and projecting the state and its potential to the world and needed to be appreciated and supported.

 

He said Governor Abdullahi Sule’s led administration would continue to support Journalists where necessary to better their working conditions and welfare.

 

The deputy governor also appealed to journalists to always adhere to the ethics of their profession and avoid tendencies that would bring disunity in the country.

 

He, therefore, appealed to other spirited individuals to support NUJ to make the press central and more viable.

 

Comrade Salihu Alkali who led other State Working committee members of NUJ to the Deputy governor’s office expressed gratitude for the gesture.

 

He promised that the items would be used judiciously.

 

Dr.Akabe, therefore, promised that the leadership of the union would ensure highly disciplined and professional practice in the state.
