Nasarawa NUJ Trains 83 Practitioners In 3 Years-Comrade Alkali

Nasarawa State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Nasarawa State Council, Comrade Salihu Mohammed Alkali has revealed that a total of 83 practicing Journalists have so far benefited from various training that would improve the capacity of members of the Union in their profession.

Comrade Alkali gave the hint during the inauguration of the State executive of the Union at the press centre recently.

The Chairman dedicates the success story of the Union in the last three years to the uncommon commitment, understanding, and resilience of members of the fourth estate of the realm.

Salihu Mohammed Alkali described their endorsement to continue in the office instead of conducting the election as a  true reflection of the strong commitment to encouraging good service to the Union, particularly in ensuring excellence, order, security, and well-being of the Union.

The re-elected Chairman opined that the State Council in an effort to add value to the Union, constructed a 4-bedroom chalet to roofing level, saying after the inauguration, He will fast track the completion of the project.

He hailed the State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe for donating  2 TV sets, 50 assorted chairs, 1 standard table tennis, and sponsorship of Akabe Table Tennis competition among others.

Other gigantic strides of the returned executive, according to him also include organizing one of the best Press week in  2021. The State Chairman buttressed that the Union also provided welfare packages to over three hundred practicing Journalists in the state annually courtesy of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Another breakthrough was the provision of a newsroom for members as well as reconnecting the NUJ Secretariat to the national grid after two years of power disconnection.

“NUJ trained and re-trained 83 practicing Journalists cut across the existing Chapels through effective collaboration of Government agencies and Non-Governmental Organizations”.

Comrade Salihu Mohammed Alkali told members that in the last three years under his headship as the State Chairman, The Union open a bank account, He in addition revealed that the gesture was to ensure prudent financial management and effective administration.

He attested that the string of success achieved in the last three years was just the tip of the iceberg., “With your cooperation and enormous contribution, we are committed to doing more.

The NUJ in Nasarawa State appreciates the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, for his unrivaled support to the Union, The State Chairman, however, applauded the  Deputy Governor of the Nasarawa State, The  Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi and the Executive Chairman of Lafia Local Government, Hon. Aminu Mu’azu Maifata for the unflinching support.

“Your various roles cannot be forgotten. However, I will like to remind His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State of his pledge to renovate the NUJ Secretariat and provide a functional vehicle for the union. I also want to commend the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Barr. Yusuf Musa and the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, Ibrahim Addra for their enormous support to the union. I want to thank the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Chris Isiguzo MFR, and the National Secretary, Shuaibu Usman Leman for providing a conducive environment for the conduct of the election.
