The Rebuild Imo Government of Governor Emeka Ihedioha,CON, reaffirmed its decision to rebuild the shattered Master Plan of the capital city Owerri along side other parts of the state.
Hon.Engr. Benjamin Nnamdi Ekwueme,who is the Honourable Commmissioner for Works in Imo State,who spoke to Imo Journalists in Owerri declared that the State Chief Servant Leader (the Governor) Rt.Hon.Emeka Ihedioha,has directed all appointees to immediately start the Rebuilding Processes forthwith so as to save Imo people from the agonies leashed on them by Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s govt.with his co-travellers.
Chief Ekwueme,therefore expressed worries and pity on the shocking discoveries made after Emergency Road Inspections stated that the state capital (Owerri) as well as other parts of the state are in dare need of urgent attention.
He observed that Imo roads have completely collapsed due to substandard Engineering Practices of the immediate past Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha,who acted as Engineer, a Lawyer, a Medical Doctor,and etc.
In his words,”Imo people have been denied good standard roads. Most roads are impassable for no just cause”.
The Imo Works Commissioner pointed at Mgbe Bridge in Ideato area,Njaba Bridge where erosion is massively threatening the people.
In Owerri,the World Bank Area is something else as all the drainages are blocked,at the Imo Assembly junction with one of the tunnel.
The Akabo Area of Ikeduru,precisely at Ekemele makes,it impossible going to Okigwe town and its environs are impassable by motorists.
“Attempts made to tare the substandard roads were done without any professional input”, he pointed out.
The Orsu-Born-Professional Civil Engineer stated that the two tunnels which were poorly built by Chief Rochas are time bombs waiting to explode, but it must be pulled down to save lives.
He insists that the tunnels were constructed without professional guidance that ordinary 400 Metric tons or Trailer loads carrying Cement can’t ply it in case of any traffic diversion.
It is therefore a challenge the Rebuild Imo is saddled with as we can no longer complain,even though the cost will be enemous.
Asked how the state intend to fund the Rebuild agenda, Ochendu Orsu averred that the State Governor, Hon.Ihedioha is a man with vision,a man of goodwill and a man of multiple wisdom.
Advice of illustrious experts such as Abraham Nwankwo, Ernest Ebii,and many other financial gurus will see us through.
Already some donor agencies and some Chinese investors are already standing-by,he intoned.
The commissioner appealed for cooperation and patience from all.The Commissioner described as shameful claims by Okorocha and his allies that the 27 General Hospitals and even IICC were completed as well as the inland roads,which are collapsing. The Police and Prison buildings commissioned are mirage to the extent that nothing reasonable was done inside.
Engr.Ekwueme teased Journalists how a govt.that could not manage or maintain a 7 (seven) storey like the Imo Concorde Hotel would embark on the construction of a-15-Storey Prince and Princess Hotels where there is no power supply or effective fire service management in the State.
