Gully Erosion Threatens GTC , Amper ,AMOSA Seeking Government Intervention

The Government Teachers College Amper , which is now Government College established by the former Police Commissioner ,Late Joseph D. Gwomwalk has been threatened by gully erosion ,as the  permanent site of the  college in a serious devastating level of becoming a home for reptiles now  yearning for urgent attention from the Plateau state government to renovate the edifice .

 

The Interim National Chairman of Amper Old Students Association (AMOSA) ,Sir Anthony Wash KSM of set 83 disclosed this during the opening ceremony of the National Secretariat on Saturday at Kilometer 8 Yakubu Gowon Way ,Adjacent Kalwa House Zaramaganda Jos Plateau state.

 

 

Wash said the plight of college is very dear to him were the students are exposed to so many danger by calling on members to come to the rescue of the college and rehabilitate ,renovate and put the school in a functional use .

 

 

He encouraged the college Old Boys to kindly institute personal discipline of providing meager resources to the progress of the Almanac.

 

Wash said the erosion has already threatened our dire college were we ex-students are seeking government to intervention ,we  AMOSA are tasking their members to come and contribute  toward the rebuilding of the school which is our foundation of legacy ,when we visited the school last year, we saw the level of destruction going on at the permanent site .

 

According to him, this college is at the verge of collapsing considering the challenges of neglect over the years, however with the leadership on ground we are prepare to leave no stone unturned to ensure that the college receive infrastructural development.

 

The Chairman of the occasion , ,Hon Sam Dala said he consider this a privilege to cheer the occasion which was established by a visionary leader ,Late J.D Gwomwalk in those days so that Plateau people will have well train teachers that would impact on the lives of people.

 

The dream of the Late Gwomwalk is for the people of Benue, Plateau to have generation that can develop infrastructures in the state and promote civil service for better service delivery, he added.

 

He employed the AMOSA to subtend the tempo rebuilding the school, explaining that the issue of erosion would be given adequate attention.

 

Damla said if you want government involvement is now or never because one of you is serving as commissioner for higher education, with the caliber of people of the college celebrated across length and breadth of lives I advise you to support the project with seriousness.

 

He promised them that the SDG will look at the critical area of intervention in infrastructure especially supply of books, classrooms to ease the students area of needs.

 

The occasion went into launching toward the actualization of the building and road network within the college permanent site.
