The governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance in Nasarawa State,Labaran Maku has identified the serious challenges facing Nigerian democracy ranging from corruption and political instability to god-fatherism.

He said god-fatherism gave rise to unprepared leaders lacking the charisma to provide veritable and robust leadership to the broad-spectrum populace.

The former Minister of Information promised to end the era of political godfatherism if elected governor.

Maku who is also the National Secretary of APGA, made the promise while addressing supporters in Ado, Karu Local Government Area of the state.

He challenged  some candidates and political parties without mission and vision for the state .

“We have breakaway from godfathers in order to serve the people without any hinderance from people calling themselves god-father.

“If i win election in APGA, I will serve the people because no single person would claim the credit for my victory,” Maku added.

He explained that under his leadership, the common people would be given contracts as a way of empowerment unlike the practice of given contracts to only the powerful in the society.

Maku therefore promised to give priority to security of lives and property and transform the state if elected governor in 2019.

Earlier, John Paul, who spoke on behalf of the group, said that they would mobilise people for him because they believe in him as the most credible candidate in the state.

Paul added that Maku’s credibility is not in doubt because he has proven it in all the offices he held in the past.
