PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Onawo, Says Assault On Universal Reporter’s Reporter, A Plot To Demoralize Investigative Reporting
Hon.Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo,the running mate to the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Nasarawa State has described the recent assault of Rabiu Omaku of the Universal Reporters online as a plot to demoralise investigative reporting.
Onawo said the “Press” must be given a chance to educate the populace on the happenings in the state.
He stated this when he condole Rabiu Omaku the Reporter of Universal Reporters online who was brutalized by men of the Nigeria Security And Civil Defense Corps while snapping list of over 1000 Pensioners u under the umbrella of Concerned Pensioners who drag the state government to Industrial Court over percentage payment.
Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo said the unabated assault was meant to hoodwink and frighthened investigative Journalists to carry out their work effectively.
“The same government went ahead with impunity to demolished a private radio station ,Breeze F.M for educating and informing the populace of Nasarawa about happenings in the state.
Onawo sympathised with the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Nasarawa state Council,Nasarawa state Council and the Correspondents’ Chapel over the ugly incident.
