COJOYA Presents Public Lecture On The Scourge Of Transmission Of Diseases

The Concerned Jos Youths Association (COJOYA), in Collaboration   with Jama’atul Nasiril Islam (JNI)  Jos North chapter  has presented public lecture / advocacy on premarital counseling, screening  to reduce the scourge of HIV/AIDs and genotype issue in Nigeria.

 

Speaking to our correspondent at the Jos North LGA, central mosque  on Thursday, COJOYA Chairman, Barr Buhari Ibrahim Shehu  disclosed that the aim of the  3 day end of year program of events  is to enlighten Muslims Umah the danger and stigma attached to the current situation in the country.

 

He said the, “theme of the program, premarital screening and counseling, Islamic perspective and medical perspective “the lecture is aimed at enlightening and educating the public on the important of such screening such as genetics type of test to guard against sickle cell anemia, hepatitis and HIV, Aids.

 

Shehu reiterated that the growing scourge of transmission of such a preventable diseases which is silently ravaging homes and communities has encourage the youths to embark on research, enlightenment of the vulnerable people in Nigeria.

 

The following professional, medical practitioners were invited to speaks on the diseases, Dr Ahmad Sabo ,in charge of human physiological, Dr Zuwaira, Dr Bello Ali Shugaba, the resource persons Dr Yusuf Abdullahi  Yusuf of the department of humanity university of Jos and Dr Munir respectively .

 

The chief host, Alh Engr Mansur Nakande said the state chapter is working hard to enlighten the people of Jos North LGA on the National laws by the Federal government on open defecation legislature going on with sustainability.

 

He explained further that the sustainable development goal on water sanitation aimed at stopping containable diseases affecting sub-Sahara Africa so we are sharing this idea to curtain the spread.

 

Plateau State chapter of JNI secretary shelk Aminu Sadis said Islam as a religious would help in spreading the information by enlightening its members on the danger of being affected by the disease.

 

He said JNI had embrace the program by calling  on their people undergo screening and counseling session before married because the highest rate of diseases in Nigeria call for urgent attention to address menace in time.

 

Sandis maintains that the program kick start here but states like Bauchi, Jugawa, Kano has already enacted law to tackle the challenges so today they invited medical practitioners to come and educate and enlighten them on the rudiments of disease.

 

He condemned completely those Imams who will join couple together without them undergoing proper screening and counseling session before married.
