Chairman Nasarawa Polytechnic Investigative Panel Raises Alarm Over Obsolete Facilities, Absence Of Road Network

The Chairman of the investigative panel of Nasarawa State Polytechnic Lafia, Mrs.Fati has raised alarm over lack of road network and obsolete facilities in the institution.

She disclosed this during an inspection of projects in the school, the Chairman in an interview said she was impressed with some of the facilities on the ground.

The projects inspected include one of the twin hostels executed and completed by Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

Other projects also include the engineering complex lectures hall built as Tertiary Education Trust Fund 2013 intervention; others are the construction of offices of staff and the new administrative block by TETFUND.

Others are transformer provide as 2012 intervention, other projects inspected are the Education Trust Fund (ETF)  2004 intervention which the expansion of the library, but reliable information revealed that part of the building was an existing hostel of the then at. Augustine College Lafia.

The team also visit the Consultancy Services Units of the Polytechnic.it was unveiled to them that the number of enrollment of students drops due to the introduction of such programs at almost all of existing tertiary institutions in the state capital.

The Coordinator affirmed that about 3000 students were admitted into the 13 courses run at the Consultancy Services Units.

He said Public Administration remains the popular course with the highest number of students while the Tourism and Culture Department admitted just five students in the last admission.

“But presently the number of people admitted is between the ranges of 500 students.

The acting Rector while answering questions by the Investigative Panel on the projects executed with the Internally Generated Revenue from 2014 to date said the Polytechnic embarked on the roofing of Accounting and building of SIWES unit respectively.
