Ahmadu Tijjani Galadima has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State for the 2027 election after winning the party’s primary election held across the state.
Innocent Bariko, the returning officer who’s also the leader of the national committee made the announcement on Friday, at the Government House Yola
According to Bariko, Galadima scored 41444 votes to defeat other aspirants in the exercise, which party officials described as peaceful and well organised. Delegates and party members from the 21 local government areas participated in the keenly contested primary.
Other aspirants Abdulrahman Haske scored 65, 424 votes making the third runner up, Abubakar Namdas scored 86, 004 coming second runner up.
Shortly after he was declared winner, Galadima expressed appreciation to delegates, party leaders, and his supporters for standing by him throughout the process. He said the victory was not just for him alone, but for everyone who believes in the future and progress of Adamawa State.
The APC candidate also appealed to other contestants to work together with him ahead of the 2027 governorship election. According to him, unity within the party will be important if the APC hopes to reclaim power in the state.
His victory comes after weeks of political consultations, endorsements, and withdrawals by some aspirants in support of his ambition.
