The Member Representing Jos North-North constituency and All Progressive Congress, APC, flag bearer for Jos North /Bassa Federal Constituency, Ibrahim Baba-Hassan has commenced the third phase of women empowerment of over four thousand women with the skills to become independent and self-reliant and improve businesses.
Addressing the mammoth crowd of women across the length and breadth of Jos North/Bassa Federal constituency over the weekend, Baba-Hassan tasked them to make good use of the money for their businesses in Jos.
Baba Hassan disclosed that the aim is to provide financial freedom for women to lessen their burden on men for better standards of living for families, improved communities, and give them a sense of fulfillment took place at Islamiya Primary School on Bauchi Road in Jos.
The women were trained on how to make creams, perfumes, cakes, tailoring, computers, and pastries as well as cosmetics among others.
The member representing Jos North North in the Plateau State House of Assembly Ibrahim Baba Hassan, who is also the All Progressives Congress party flag bearer for Jos North Base Federal House of Representatives explained that women remained an indispensable tool for creating wealth, boosting the family economy, and building stable families in the multiple roles as mothers, homemakers, farmers, traders, and community leaders.
Baba Hassan said in the past two months, he has so far empowered over two thousand five hundred women with ten thousand Naira each as starter packs to commence small and medium-scale businesses reiterating his determination to ensure that thousands of women are empowered with ten thousand Naira before January 2023.
He said aside from giving the ten thousand Naira each, he intends to empower about twenty thousand women and Youths with different trades for efficient and effective growth and development.
According to the member, both experts and policy-makers agree that empowering women, especially poor rural women is fundamental to economic development in Nigeria.
The Director of Millennium Bulldozer, Saudat Hussan Adam said the empowered program is going to be in five stages with no fewer than four thousand women to be trained with skills and become better citizens.
Beneficiaries of the skill acquisition program Esther Dung, Emmanuel Nyam and Aishatu Abubakar expressed gratitude to the Member House for touching the lives of women through skills noting the initiative of the member will not only empower women but also foster tolerance in their communities.
