Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day, urging citizens to continue supporting democratic governance to ensure greater development and improved living conditions across the country.

In a statement issued by Humwashi Wonosikou, his Chief Press Secretary, Governor Fintiri described June 12 as a historic milestone that symbolizes the resilience, sacrifices, and triumph of the Nigerian people in their quest for democratic rule.

He paid tribute to both living and departed heroes of democracy whose struggles helped entrench the democratic system currently enjoyed in the country.

The governor noted that June 12 remains a watershed in Nigeria’s political history, stressing that it serves as a reminder that power ultimately belongs to the people.

Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparent, inclusive, and people-oriented governance, aimed at improving the welfare of citizens and promoting sustainable development.

Fintiri highlighted the achievements of his administration over the past seven years, particularly in infrastructure development and other projects with direct impact on the economy and the lives of the people.

According to him, these accomplishments demonstrate that democracy can deliver meaningful benefits when leaders remain committed to serving the public interest.

As Nigerians celebrate Democracy Day, the governor called for continued support, patience, and cooperation from citizens, emphasizing that collective effort is essential for national progress.

He urged Nigerians to remain united, peaceful, and committed to democratic ideals, expressing confidence that the country’s challenges can be overcome through resilience, patriotism, and strong institutions.

He also called for a successful democratic transition that would further strengthen Nigeria’s democracy and secure a brighter future for generations to come.
