40 Primary/Secondary Teachers In Crisis LGAs Received Training On Trauma Management

Pupils-at-education-summit-in-JosNo fewer than forty (40) primary and secondary school teachers in Jos south Local Government Area of Plateau state yesterday received training on techniques to teach trauma healing among pupils and students in public schools.

The training which was declared open for public school teachers was organized by Apurimac Onuls, an organization sponsor by the European Union to help mitigate in the Plateau crisis.

Declaring the one day workshop open, the transition chairman of Jos south local government Augustine Pwakin, charged the beneficiaries of the training to use their skills acquired from the training and impact positive knowledge to the younger generations on the need to live in peace with one another.

Hon Pwakin commended efforts of Apurimac in mediating in the Plateau unrest, through humanitarian services to communities and groups,

According to the council boss, the organization has contributed in no small measure in capacity building of the victims of Jos crisis and other citizens.

Earlier, country Director of Apurimac in Nigeria, Godwin Okoko, said the aim of the training was to ensure that pupils and students are expose to the current reality of life, and to instil in the children good attitude toward one another.

Similarly, Mr. Okoko while declaring open another training workshop for trauma healing, held at the Bishop house Jos on Wednesday, in Jos north Local Government Area of Plateau, the Apurimac boss maintained that the training was to brainstorm on possible means of healing traumatised victims of the unrest.

Participants of the trauma healing workshop were drawn from prone insecurity council areas of Wase, Barkin ladi and Riyom local government areas of the state.

Participants of the trauma healing training workshop interviewed, said they hope to use the knowledge to contribute their quota in peace building.
