Notable personalities in Delta State, including leaders of ethnic and youth groups, political parties, former council chairmen and past political appointees on Sunday looked at those who have announced, directly or by implication, their intention to contest the governorship in 2015, and those whose names have been put forward, with or without their public confirmation, as prospective candidates for the state’s number one seat, describing the chairman of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Dr. Ngozi Olejeme as ‘the only serious aspirant from Delta North”.
“Dr. Ngozi Olejeme stands out of the pack of pretenders, traders and contenders. She is a large hearted philanthropist, a reputable humanist and a God fearing individual” the leaders said.
They also condemned the plot to stop a governor of Anioma extraction in 2015.
“Delta north is the only zone that has never been privileged to produce the governor. We must support the zone in the spirit of equity, justice and fairness to produce the governor in 2015” the leaders said.
At a meeting in Ughelli Town, the leaders urged Urhobo and indeed Deltans to embrace politics anchored on qualities like credibility, competence and ability to perform and deliver the dividend of democracy to the people.
“Delta State needs a well-focused manager who has the interest of the state at heart; someone who is administratively skillful; someone who will deliver. Dr. Ngozi Olejeme possesses the ability, courage, sincerity and guiding philosophy to provide the right leadership for the betterment of the people. She is a stickler for hard work and excellence”.
In a statement issued in Ughelli by the Director General, You and I Foundation, Mr. Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Uduaghan and the President, Urhobo National Youth Congress (UNYC), Comrade Nicholas Evwienure, the leaders said “We are solidly behind Dr. Olejeme. We shall mobilize our people and give her an overwhelming electoral support.
Urhobo, they further charged, should ensure that Olejeme becomes the next governor of the state.
“Dr. Olejeme has the requisite appeal and political structure to clinch the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)” the leaders added.
