Renowned accountant and elder statesman, Chief David Dafinone on October 2, 2013, began the campaigns of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) for the Delta Central bye election and gave reasons why the people should vote for Chief Ede Dafinone.
The second republic senator who is leading the campaign of his son, the DPP candidate across the senatorial district said his decision to campaign for his second son was born out of sincere conviction.
“In my family, we do not talk about performance. We are born to perform. We do things with integrity, honesty, diligence and interest of those we serve” he said.
“The senator representing Delta Central must be well educated-vibrant, visionary individual who wants Urhobo unity, someone who is not defective in any area. He must have contact with individuals, groups and organizations” he stated.
“Ede is forthright, honest, meek in attitude, understands issues of both economic and socio- political weights. He has demonstrated the will and vision to lead Urhobo to her manifest destiny. He has all it takes to out-perform all previous senators including me. He is just the natural choice for any Urhobo man” he emphasized.
While addressing prominent Delta Central political and community leaders in Sapele, Dafinone who represented Bendel South Senatorial District in the Second Republic advised the people not to vote for those that contributed greatly to the disunity and underdevelopment of the Urhobo nation.
“Ede’s representation will be effective and filled with integrity and accountability” he promised.
Dafinone who took the message of Urhobo unity and development to notable politicians and monarchs in Uvwie, Udu, Ughelli, Evwreni, Jesse, Mosogar and Oghara, canvassed for two term for National Assembly members “
I left a gap that had not been filled in a continuous manner” he lamented.
On the family’s vision and mission, Dafinone said “We have touched many lives positively which has made many of them become emotionally attached to the family’s vision and mission. We have awarded scholarship to scores of indigent university students. We have given interest free loans to traders. We have trained many people in different disciplines and skills. We have relieved our people of their burden occasioned by economic difficulties” he added.
