The perennial water scarcity has inflicted hardship to the people of Yola, Takdan, and Gumshar communities of Wase Local Government Council of Plateau State, as they have raised alarm on how they trek 25 km in search of portable from the streams for family consumption.
They express concern and grieve over the lack of potable water during the dry season in Wase communities by appealing to the authority concern to come to their rescue.
The residents of the affected settlement lambasted the present administration on lackadaisical attitude, vowing not to vote them again if a stable water supply is not provided in rural areas of Wase LGA.
The village head of Gumshar, Malam Dauda who expressed this during an interview with our reporter at his palace.
He stated, that most of the borehole dug was unused because of poor service from the contractors, we are in dire need of intervention in the areas of water, roads construction to connect us to the national grid.
He said ” the areas are blessed with available water underneath, but the contractors, mostly dug 30 to 50 meters instead of 150 meters.
The village head adds that his community and the neighboring communities are doing their best to provide their own wells.
He revealed that they are using the same water as their animals in the areas.
Dauda urged the government to come to their rescue and provide them with good water in the communities as water is life.
