Umah Literary Contest, Prof Ijeoma Ayuba Seeks Support From Local, International Body

The Umah Literary Contest for Secondary Schools in Nigeria is a baby of the visionary and promoter  Prof. Ijeoma Georgiana Umahi Ayuba has solicited support from international and local bodies to improve reading culture in Nigeria .

 

This was contained in a press statement made available to journalists in Jos, Plateau state, says the contest aims at promoting reading culture, to test student’s ability to comprehend and recall reading material.

 

Prof Ayuba stressed that the contest helps to build student’s fluid and crystallized intelligence which ordinarily differs in terms of speed and space with normal class reading activity.

 

 

She disclosed that the result of this exercise will in the long run improve the reading culture in the youths and boost the understanding of their environment and the national economy.

 

According to her, the book distribution is free to encourage total participation and develop their national wide interest in the contest.

 

Prof .Ijeoma Ayuba revealed that in view of the logistics challenge to cover nook and cranny of the Nigerian space, there is urgent need to support the vision bearer to sustain the reading culture project.

 

 

Prof. Ijeoma Georgiana Umahi Ayuba called on the Federal, State, Local Government, internal community, philanthropists, cooperate bodies, spirited individuals and other stakeholders to assist with funds to take care of logistics and produce more reading materials.
