Three Days Warning Strike: Nasarawa NMA Chairman Commend Members, State Govt , Calls Off Strike

Dr. Bulus Umaru has applauded members of the Nigeria Medical Association, Nasarawa State Chapter for their understanding during the three days warning strike meant to press some of their demands

 

The Nigeria Medical Association Chairman disclosed this shortly after a closed door meeting with the State Deputy governor, Silas Agara,the Head of Service, Nicholas Aboki ,the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Abdullahi Adeka,the Chief Medical Director of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital and host of others.

 

He said NMA has reached an agreement with the State government to avert the indefinite strike action which he said was for the good of the State

 

It could be recalled that  the Association commences a three-day warning strike from Monday April  1, to press home its demands for better welfare which the Union reeled out to include stagnation, heavy taxation and pending arrears running to N400m .

 

“Based on our discussions since the strike started the State government has responded well to our three demands”.

.

Dr Bulus averred that the State government has assured NMA that already the issue of career stagnation among civil servants is being given ardent attention.

 

“The issue of high tax and arrears of corrected salary structure were also attended to,” Nigeria Medical Association Chairman hinted..

 

He noted that all doctors would be back to duty post by 8:00am, saying executives of the Association would have to meet to fine tune their discussion with government delegation.

 

The Deputy Governor, Silas Agara, who is the leader of government delegation, commended the Association for their understanding.

 

He hinted that the avoidable strike was due to communication gap between the government and the Nigeria Medical Association.

 

Agara assured members of the Association that the State government would look into some of their demands with the view of addressing them to the core.
