The Rivers State Chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association has uncovered one Mr Echi Igbo Michael who it said is a fake medical doctor.
Mr Echi Igbo Michael was allegedly said to be operating a medical facility in Rivers State, for about two years now, where he practises as a medical doctor.
NMA confirmed the academic status of the alleged fake doctor, Mr Echi Igbo Michael, to be a graduate of Banking and Finance from the Cross River State University of Science and Technology (CRUTECH).
The Anti-Quackery Committee of NMA) got hint of the fake medical doctor when he appeared for an interview at the Port Harcourt Military Hospital for the post of a medical officer.
In a statement signed by the Rivers State NMA Secretary, Dr. Hope Avundaa, said the association got a tip-off after Echi Igbo Michael had applied for NMA identity card.
The statement said with unverified and falsified documents that were presented, the Anti-Quackery committee, led by the NMA chairman in the State, Dr. Ebbi Robinson was alerted.
According to the statement, the alleged fake medical doctor presented fake MBBS certificate from purportedly issued by the University of Port Harcourt (2017), and a fake MDCN full registration certificate (2023).
The statement said the fake medical doctor, was eventually apprehended after a period of active surveillance on him when paraded himself as a staff of the Military Hospital, Port Harcourt, during his application for the association’s ID Card
