21 Health Workers, 6 Medical Doctors Contracts COVID-19 In Nasarawa State

No fewer than 21 health workers in Nasarawa State has contracted the Coronavirus Pandemic, the Chairman All Resident Doctors, Peter Idoko has confirmed this.

Idoko said out of the 21 health workers, 6 medical doctors were infected, He disclosed this while declaring a warning strike by the six Associations from Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital.

 

The Associations that embarked on the warning strike comprises of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), All Resident Doctors (ARD), Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), AMLSN, NANNM, and NDTA.

 

He attested that their demands include thirteen years stagnation, nonpayment of special hazard allowances approved by the national body and supplied of inappropriate

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

 

“That is why we are requesting appropriate PPE’s to discharge our duty without any harm”.

 

Dr.Idoko explained that the figure of COVID-19 currently in Isolation centers are 112, He maintained that the special COVID-19 allowance was not paid.

 

The Chief Medical Director of DASH, Dr. Ikrama Hassan did not respond to call placed on his cellphone.

 

Comrade Alidzi Maga, the chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives in an interview said the Congress resolved to negotiate with Government but the effort failed.

 

He said the seven days ultimatum has since expired midnight yesterday.

 

“The next step is to embark on an indefinite strike after the expiration of the one-week warning strike”.
