The Many Sins of Prince Umar Mohammed, BYO’s Former President

• Real Reason Why He was Unceremoniously Removed As BYO’s President

For Prince Umar Mohammed the former President of the Buhari Youth Organisation, last week was the end road for him, when he was unceremoniously removed as the President of Buhari Youth Organisation, BYO.

The former number one man at the youth organization who was removed after a vote of no confidence was passed on him and his executives’ members due to corruption, ineptitude, fraud, highhandedness and other shenanigans by the congress of Buhari Youth Organisation.

However, rising from a National Executive Council meeting last week a communiqué signed by the new secretary of the organization Engr. Garba Umar, stated reasons why he was removed.

Moreso, the communiqué stated that Umar Mohammed was indicted and found culpable by the Buhari Youth Organization’s congress for gross misconduct, the offences which include: Indiscriminate and fraudulent demand and receipt of funds and other gratifications from unsuspecting members of the public (at home and abroad) in exchange for promises of securing appointments in Nigeria’s federal cabinet (Advanced Fee Fraud).

In his quest to dupe people, the ousted Umar promised people juicy appointment such as CBN governor and Ministerial appointment as he collects money from them.

Other things he was involved include, receipt of funds from anti Buhari’s team to intimidate BYO members in their own interest to scuttle BYO’s efforts, especially during the APC Presidential primaries of which intentionally he refuses to attend and discouraged BYO members from participating.

He was also accused of selling of BYO membership forms through some state coordinators even in IDPs camps which is against the BYO’s constitution.

Moreso, he was involved in fraudulent diversion of the organization’s financial and material resources to his personal use and in some cases, even trading of same for selfish gains. The official car given to the association was sold out by the said Umar within 24hours even before the kick up of the Presidential campaign

Umar diverted the money given to BYO during GMBs declaration without notifying anyone, none of BYO members was given anything from it.

The funds raised by the organization to be used by the organization during the Presidential campaign was converted to his  own personal use, as this hindered most of  the BYO from joining the campaign train,  though those that are opportune to join the train used their own resources.

The former President was also accused of absconding during the campaign and he did not participate anywhere throughout the 36 states even in Kano, meanwhile this medium learnt that the funds meant for the production of campaign materials were pocketed by him as well.

Other issues associated with him that caused his ouster include arbitrary and arrogant sacking and replacement of BYO executive members without recourse to the organization’s laid down rules and regulations.

This was seen in the manner the way and manner he sacked the National vice president Mrs. Lucy Ajayi for no reason; Lucy’s offence was denial to give him money given to the southwest by BD Lawal.

Other BYO members who are pioneer members were also shown the exit way by the same Umar, as the objected to Umar’s way of handling things within the BYO, this led some persons to leave voluntarily owing to his unbearable attitudes, such persons that left voluntarily is Yusuf Nalado.

His many sins includes, intentional cause of disaffection amongst BYO members in order to achieve his personal gains thereby derailing harmony and progress within the ranks of the organization. For instance, the said Umar hired and fired at his will contrary to the constitution, which caused conflicts and confusion within the BYO family. “In some states we have 3 – 4 state coordinators, and likewise the National Excos. The said Umar instigated states coordinator to revolt against the zonal coordinators in some cases like Lagos even a local government coordinator was sent against the Vice President just to create confusion. Divide and rule became the order of the day during his tenure, he was found to be setting members against each other every day.”

There was the deliberate refusal to convene any executive council meeting for a period exceeding 24 months in direct contravention of the requirements of the BYO’s constitution. It is on note that the BYO had meeting was in 2013 and all the deliberation in the meeting none has been implemented or actualized. He intentionally scuttles all plans to hold any meeting be it NEC, general or even zonal meeting. He uses all technique to introduce segregation and disunity amongst the BYO members.

There was also incompetency and the lack of the desired will to move the association because of laziness and deceitful mind. He never contributed anything to the growth and the development of BYO, as well as the presidential campaign.  he was nowhere near Lagos during the Presidential primaries, neither did he attend any of the presidential campaign anywhere in Nigeria.

There was also disrespect to all irrespective of age, social, Academic or political class, as he was said to have insulted each and every person around the President except Madawakin Daura simply because its only through him he can gain access to the President, he respect no one unless if he is targeting a benefit.

Meanwhile the National Executive Council of the BYO following all these offences leveled against Umar,  invited him to take an opportunity of defense on these allegations which he arrogantly refused to honor thereby leaving the organization with no option than to invoke constitutional requirements which demands outright dissolution of the National Executive Council with the aim of sanitizing the organization from sleaze and dishonor as brought upon it by Umar Mohammed’s disappointing style of leadership and in line with BYO mentor, Mr. President’s zero tolerance stance on fraud and corruption.

However, the congress had also unanimously nominated and ratified the appointment of Alh. Ibrahim Khalil Aminu Katsina as the current National President of the Buhari Youth Organization, Mrs. Lucy Ajayi as Deputy National President, Engr Garba A. Umar as National Secretary, Mr. Ike Okafor as the financial secretary, Mr. Iche as the Legal Adviser and Alh. Baba Yawale as National Treasurer of the Buhari Youth Organization respectively.

The communiqué stated that; “all other National offices of the Buhari Youth Organization shall be duly ratified with various occupying officers in due course by the leadership as mentioned in  above within 7 days of this communication.”

“The Buhari Youth Organization hereby enjoin the general public, all relevant public and corporate agencies, individuals, political associations, security agencies and whomever it may concern to identify the above offices and officers as ratified today by the BYO congress as the bona fide leaders of the organization and desist forthwith from dealing, transacting and or engaging in any business or communications with the former leadership as headed by Umar Mohammed.”

It also stated that; “any person or body mentioned above who contravenes the caution stated in above does so at his/her or their own risks and may not hold BYO liable of any responsibilities arising thereof.”
