Yakubu Busari, a journalist, has narrated how he escaped death when a herdsman invaded his farm at Agingi, close to Dutse Kura Cemetery Road, in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State on Friday, 11th of September, 2026.

At about 12 pm, the owner of the House close to the Agingi burial grounds, farming inside the plot, was shocked that, before the attack ,the Fulani boy forcefully brought his cows to graze on the farm .

According to him, they usually lead their flock to destroy all that he planted, including neighbors’ farms, which he strongly condemned and complained about.

“so late, last week  ,my Neighbors  farmland  was affected  on the farm on that  fateful  day ,when  the suspected herdsman invaded again  ,the  residents  flee in different  directions without talking to them because  they said  the natives  said they leave in peace  with  them.

The obviously traumatized journalist farmer who said he escaped assault with stones attacks by whisker said that he reported to nearby security outfit.

“My farm was overrun by the herder who brought out a machete and ran to attack me with it; later ran into the nearby buses.

“For some time now, I have been embroiled in heated battles with the Fulani herdsmen who always bring down my fence of the farmland and forcefully bring their cows to graze there .

“This  does not apply to me alone  , those Fulani who freely  graze usually  destroy  cash crops belonging to the residents  farmers as well as  killing  and raping of Women  who are mostly residents of Agingi in Bassa LGA   of Plateau in the recent time “, he narrated

Yakubu Wuyep called on the council Chairman, Dr Joshua Sunday Riti, and Governor Caleb Mutfwang to take decisive steps in addressing the alleged excesses of the herdsmen.

According to him, “it is worrisome that fresh attacks on farmers by some  Fulani herdsmen loomed and also claiming several lives and houses ,crops including farmlands worth millions of naira destroyed or burned down as the case may be ,as farmers crops alleged destroy .

The herders openly graze in people farmlands as rural dwellers while we appeal to government should do something to stem the ugly tide “he added.

The Plateau State Government should come to the aid and perform the primary objectives of responsible governance and make a constitution that can resolve the incessant attacks by herdsmen.

The persistent herdsmen attacks on farmers, he pointed out, have in no small measure deprived the country of its first sources of income.
