The speaker children’s parliament in Nasarawa State, Ibrahim Aliyu Oboshi has appealed to parents to accord utmost importance to the upbringing of the younger ones.
The speaker disclosed this during their inauguration held at Ibrahim Abacha Youth Centre, Oboshi unveiled that vulnerable children are part of the ills that affects the nation.
He also called on religious and community leaders to attached prominence to the upbringing of children,Hajiya Salamatu Al-Makura, the first lady congratulate the speaker and other officials for the successful conduct of election.
Salamatu in her speech called on leaders to place the fear of God above their personal interest as she expressed gratitude with the emergence of the new crop of talented leaders.
The first lady challenged the new executives not to allow themselves to be manipulated by gullible politicians as she promised to support the children financially as well to stand firm by them by protecting their right at all times.
Salamatu Al-Makura described the composition of children’s parliament as a training ground for the breeding of future leaders, she expressed dismay on some of the nagging issues affecting the wellbeing of children which she listed to include war, suicide bombing, child trafficking, abuse, violence, child Labour, exploitation, kidnapping as major issues affecting children world over.
Calling for a concerted approach to end all the impending affecting children.
The speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe described the emergence of the current executives as a clear demonstration of building a virile and democratic values and norms.
Urging the officials to accept the descending voices of their subordinates, saying doing so would set up a new chart for peaceful co-existence.
The Representative of Unicef, Yakubu Mohammed in his speech urged the speaker that Child right should be sustained.
“We are hopeful that the right of children is protected at all times.
The commissioner women affairs, Hon. Mary Emwogulu thanked the first lady for her support by creating a condusive atmosphere for the programme.
The commissioner commended the former House of Assembly for the enactment of the “Child Right Law in 2005.
