Senator Al-Makura, Ahmadu Al-Makura, Three Others Challenge Election Outcome

The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia, The Nasarawa State capital has received six petitions filed by those that contested and lost the election.

The Secretary of the EPT, disclosed this during a chat with newsmen at the State Governorship EPT sitting at the Chief Magistrate Court, Lafia.

The Scribe said the incumbent Senator, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has filed a petition challenging the victory of his opponent, Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, the Senate-elect for Nasarawa South senatorial zone.

Onawo defeated the incumbent Senator, who is also the former Governor of the State with a margin of 16,500 votes to emerge victorious as the Senator representing Nasarawa South senatorial district.

The sitting Senator is praying the Tribunal include the results of some polling units in Gayam and Ciroma Ward in Lafia Local Government to be included in the election even after declaring Onawo as the winner of Nasarawa South Senatorial seat.

While in Nasarawa West the election of Senator Ahmad Aliyu Wadada of the Social Democratic Party was been challenged at the Election Petition Tribunal by his opponent, Wakil Kabir.

Other petitioners challenging their opponents are, Hon. Mohammed Ahmadu Al-Makura , a two-term member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Lafia/Obi constituency (APC)  challenging Hon. Abubakar Sarki Dahiru (SDP).

Also Hon.Yahaya Bunu of the PDP filed a petition challenging his political rival and incumbent member House of Representatives representing Awe/Doma/Keana Federal constituency, challenging the victory of the occupant of the seat Hon. Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba (APC).

While Hon Jonathan Gaza Gbefwi was challenged by three of his opponents including Musa D. Danjuma of APM, Nuhu Sabo of the NNPP and APC respectively.

A close confidant to Ogoshi Onawo on Saturday said they are yet to respond to the petition filed by Al-Makura.
