The Senator representing Plateau North, Sen. I .D Gyang has distributed the first-ever peace unity and reconciliation football tournament kits to 73 electoral wards towards promoting peaceful coexistence amongst the youth.
Gyang made the distribution at his residence on Thursday in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau state by appealing to the youth to shun any form of violence capable of promoting disunity in Plateau North district.
He reiterated his admonition to the Local Organizing Committee, LOC, and coaches at the wards level that this tournament has no room for any form of segregation be in political, ethnic, religious, or whatever an inclusive and unifying tournament that is to enhance togetherness and promote harmony.
Sen Istifanus Dalyop Gyang said the formally kick-starting of the Plateau North tournament was gear toward encouraging unity in six (6) LGAs by ensuring that the people live together without any religious and tribal bias minds.
The disbursement of the kits to the 73 electoral wards in Plateau north is aimed at engaging youth in sports and to fight idleness among our teaming unemployed youth, he said.
Sen Gyang employed the youth to shun all forms of criminal elements capable of destroying their future by appealing to the youth to see themselves as the vanguard of transforming.
“So, therefore, it is my delight to officially flag-off the distribution of kits that the tournament would improve on our current existing fragile peace in our various communities through this gesture,” Gyang said.
