The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Dr. Aliyu Bello, has commended the Governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, for acknowledging the developmental strides of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule’s administration.
In a statement released by Augustine Ogaba, the APC’s spokesman, Dr. Bello described Onawo’s statement that “the present Governor has done well” and has “brought some physical changes to Nasarawa State” as a demonstration of honesty, political maturity and patriotism.
He said Onawo deserved commendation for publicly acknowledging the achievements of an administration led by a different political party.
“Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration has embarked on numerous projects and initiatives across critical sectors to transform the state and improve the well-being of its citizens. For a political opponent to openly acknowledge these efforts is refreshing and further demonstrates that the impact of the administration is visible and cannot reasonably be denied.”
Dr. Bello urged politicians and stakeholders to place the collective interest of Nasarawa above partisan considerations.
“We may belong to different political parties and hold divergent political opinions, but Nasarawa State belongs to all of us. Where Government is doing well, we should acknowledge it. Where there are shortcomings, we should point them out constructively and offer workable alternatives. That is how democracy should function.”
“We appreciate Senator Onawo for his candour. His statement is significant because it confirms that the developmental strides of Governor Abdullahi Sule are not merely being acknowledged by members and supporters of the APC; they are also visible to discerning observers outside the party.”
