More governorship aspirants are emerging under different political parties in Plateau state as the 2023 general elections draw nearer.
So far, over 30 aspirants especially from the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the rival Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have indicated interest with old and new posters dotting major ways across the state.
What took many by surprise was the emergence of Mr. Kizito Dankat Gukas on the political scene in the state which as observed, is unsettling the polity.
For the team of Mr. Gukas, the journey that started shortly after the 2019 general elections is gathering momentum as the silent movement was a strategy, Hon. Sunday Davou Lochang, a spokesperson for the team hinted.
For the first time, the campaign posters of Mr. Kizito have adorned Jos North, Jos South, and other LGAs. It was gathered that it was a deliberate act aimed at changing the political narrative of the state; having caught many by surprise.
Mr. Lochang who would not agree that the “Gukas Solidarity Movement” (GSM) is coming out late with her aspirant when most Plateau inhabitants are finding it difficult to accept the fact that the people might have made up their minds as to who to go with under the basis of first-come-first-serve, he added that the credibility and administrative competence of “Kizito Gukas is what will stand him out among others”
According to him, the GSM Team was on its final lap of consultations with major stakeholders across party lines, religions, the business community, youths, and the women’s groups. Most of them have seen reason with this aspiration and have pledged their loyalty and support towards its success.
The Aspirant who will ply his aspiration in the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a Civil Servant with a track record to showcase, has also been a major influence on the youths with a difference because of his disposition with mutual respect for each other and being our brother’s keeper
In his mid-50s, he is a Mwaghavul by Tribe from Mangu LGA and is a graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; the University of Jos, and the National Open University of Nigeria.
