Court Remands Father In Prison After His Shocking Confession Of Impregnating 14-Year-Old Daughter

In a shocking case of domestic depravity that has left the local community reeling, an Adamawa State court has ordered the immediate remand of a father who openly confessed to repeatedly violating and impregnating his 14-year-old biological daughter.

The suspect, whose identity is being strictly withheld by the court to protect the underage victim, appeared before the presiding magistrate on Monday. Facing charges of incest and statutory rape under Nigerian law, the defendant chose not to mount a defense, pleading guilty to the crimes.

According to police prosecution reports presented in court, the horrifying abuse did not occur as a one-off incident. Security officials established that the defendant had subjected his minor daughter to multiple sexual assaults over an extended period within the confines of their family residence.

The systematic abuse only came to light after the 14-year-old victim fell pregnant, prompting an intervention by relatives and local authorities, which led to the immediate arrest of the father.

During the brief court appearance, the defendant stood before the bench and directly admitted to the acts.

The presiding judge did not mince words, heavily condemning the father’s actions and describing them as “wicked, unnatural, and deeply shameful.”

Citing the gravity of the offense and the vulnerability of the minor victim, the court summarily denied bail to the defendant.

The suspect was ordered to be remanded in custody at a federal correctional center in the state.

Sentencing Timeline: The court has adjourned the matter, with the formal sentencing hearing scheduled for next week.

“This is a betrayal of the highest order. A father who is meant to be a shield for his child turned into her tormentor. We will be pursuing the absolute maximum penalty under the law.” — State Prosecutor

The prosecution has indicated it will push for the maximum sentencing guidelines under the following legal frameworks:

The Child Rights Act  protects minors from all forms of sexual abuse, exploitation, and violence.

The Penal Code (applicable in Northern Nigeria): Outlaws incestuous relationships and carries severe punitive measures.

Given the age of the victim and the repeated nature of the assaults, the defendant faces a potential sentence of life imprisonment without the option of a fine.

The case has sparked intense outrage among child rights advocates and civil society groups in Adamawa State, who are calling for a swift, uncompromised judicial conclusion. Advocacy groups have urged the state ministry of women affairs to take immediate custody of the 14-year-old survivor to ensure she receives proper medical care, psychological counseling, and rehabilitation.

The state prosecutor praised the court’s rapid handling of the initial arraignment, noting that a swift and severe sentence next week will send an unmistakable signal to predators that the state will not tolerate the abuse of vulnerable children.
