Rabiu: Bingham University Ranked 23 Among Private Universities In The Country-Vice Chancellor

The vice chancellor of Bingham University has listed the university as the least indebted private university in Nigeria, he ranked the private university as the 23 out of the over eighty public and private universities in the country, professor Samuel Leonard Fwa has said.

Professor Leonard revealed that no salary is owned staff of the institution with the present economic recession biting harder, he however maintained that the institution which started with just N1.3bn can boast of N3bn with a land mass of 520 hectares.

He gave the indication when the Nasarawa state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalist paid an assessment tour of the University recently, the vice chancellor attributed the success story of the institution to the commitment of staff of the university.

Professor Fwa described education as an essential artery for the development of every nation, adding that illiteracy will only strive where education is low, the vice chancellor identified fear of domination as a major causes of fracas in the world.

Leonard Fwa unfolded that Bingham university graduated two sets of medical doctors, as he said the institution created a twelve feet trenches to secure the land of the university from trespassers as well to ensure total security of lives of students, he however affirmed that the institution has an internet facilities with software library, chemical science library, biological science library, smart library and accounting library.

The vice chancellor said the movement of the radio station followed the resolved of ECWA church to move it headquarter to the nation’s capital, Leonard-Fwa who took Journalist round the premises described the ten years old University as an institution with a difference.

He buttressed that the University has established a mass communication studio which has necessitated the relocation of Radio Yerwa station to Bingham University, the vice chancellor, Professor Samuel Kursim Leonard-Fwa has revealed that Radio Yerwa,a licensed Radio station owned by the Evangelical Church of Winning All (ECWA) is about moving it station to the permanent site of the University.

“all departments has a standard library, the institution expended over one billion for the establishment of Microscopy lab, Molecular lab, bacteriamic lab, LPA lab and Nasarawa state government donates a 250 capacity Information Communication Technology (ICT) centre, having the best Tuberculosis diagnosis laboratory and HIV section with hard working personnel”.

The vice chancellor listed some of the ongoing projects in the school to includes the ongoing building of management studies, ultra-modern girls hostel with 119 capacity with 252 capacity of male hostel, others are the new library for 250 students, building of auditorium of about 300 students, adding that the University will in no distance time produce drinks locally.

Nasarawa state chapter has commended the vice chancellor of the prestigious Bingham University, Karu Nasarawa state for turning around the future of the younger generation, the state chairman of the council, Dan Yakubu commended Professor Samuel Leonard-Fwa for inculcating discipline and moral value to the institution.

Yakubu said the visit was not meant to award to the institution but rather to open up a new vista for partnership with the university and the wider world, the state chairman reiterated the resilience and steadfastness of the headship of Bingham for the fast development of the university.

The nation vice President Zone D,Chief Wilson Bako in a vote of thanks applauded the university management for instilling spiritual healing in the society, calling on other churches to follow suit by establishing same.

Saying the present day Journalists differs from the ancient times reporters who are arm chair Journalist, he eulogizes Professor Leonard-Fwa for accommodating the press which he refers to nation builders.

“Hoping that COCIN Church which is my church will copy the good work you have exhibited, some of the good work was the building of Bingham chapel” has he reiterated that COCIN would engage the service of professor Samuel Leonard-Fwa.
