N30 Million Hajj Fare Scandal Unsettles Nasarawa Muslim Pilgrims Welfare As Security Agents Are Yet To Arrest Sagir Muhammed

After the expiration of the twenty four hours given to security agencies by Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura to effect the arrest of Sagir Muhammed for swindling over N30 million Hajj fare belonging to over twenty eight pilgrims in Nasarawa state as his whereabouts is yet unknown even as the first Batch of pilgrims from the state has since been airlifted to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this medium gathered that the issue has unsettled the board.

According to this medium finding, those duped also include a Local government chairman from Niger state who sponsored seven pilgrims through the Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board  but unconfirmed source hinted that those affected may not embark on the Holy pilgrimage to Mecca.

The government of Nasarawa state during this year’s farewell message declared a staff of the Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board wanted for defrauding over twenty seven intending pilgrims from the state.

Ubandoma in a letter of complaint to the Public Complaint Commission dated 18/08/2016 is demanding for the immediate refund of N11, 550,000 meant for the airlifting of people been defrauded by a staff of the board, Sagir U.Mohammed who was now at large.

7.Mohammed Sani

11.Usaini Budi

As at press time dated 21/08/2016 there was no response from the Ombudsman over the purported complaint by the eleven Fulani’s, Barrister Ubandoma in a chat said he will drag the board to a court of competent jurisdiction if the eleven pilgrims did not embark on the holy pilgrimage.

Anomalies are committed annually by staffers of the board but they continue to walk scot free in the state, in 2015,it could be recalled that over forty intending pilgrims cut across the thirteen local government were excise from embarking on pilgrimage but no frantic steps were taken to checkmate the obstacle.
