Proliferation of Sophisticated Weapons: Governor Al-Makura Gives Weapon Handlers One Month To Surrender

Nasarawa state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has given weapon handlers thirty days grace to surrender their weapons or face the full wrath of the law, the the state commissioner of police ,Sadiq Abubakar announced the position of the state government during a press briefing.

He said the chief security of the state has observed with dismay the proliferation of firearms in the state carrying along sophistication weapons to surrender them to the nearest police station or risk arrest and prosecution within the frame of thirty days.

The commissioner of police, Sadiq Abubakar identifies the proliferation of firearms in the state as a contributory factor to the commission of violent crimes, he said after the expiration of the period of grace.

He said the state police command in conjunction with other sister security agencies to embark on a special operation to clampdown on persons in possession of weapons acquired illegally, saying anybody arrested will face the full wrath of the law.

The police command called on the general public to be part of the noble objective of making communities safer by giving useful information to the police on manufacturers of firearms, persons in possession of deadly weapons, he also read riot act to persons that are into gun running.
