Former Acting Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Abuja, Professor Patricia Manko Lar  has advocated for decentralisation of power to promote healthy competition in the country

She stated this during her award of Honored for Excellence Roles by Rebirth Group , New Nation Engligtentment Foundation, “appreciation plaque” for her roles as Special Guest ,6th and Final Zonal restructuring Symposium on this day 3rd March,2026 @ Jos, Plateau State, Rebirth Group  .

Prof.Patricia Lar , received the award in recognition of her contributions to the Nigeria project , as well as her commitment to promoting academic economic empowerment.

The Award for Excellence in her roles further highlights the growing impact of Nigerian women in the academic, creative, and corporate space.

Speaking at the event held in Jos, Plateau State, Prof. Patricia Manko Lar harped on her ideological beliefs in decentralising and restructuring the country for better development and revamping the country .”

According to her, it’s necessary to decentralize power in Nigeria and stabilize power to achieve more acceptance of regional governments, which is key.

Lar pointed out that the over-concentration of power at the central level wouldn’t bring regional competition, and we need to identify their strengths.

She urged Rebirth Group New Nation Engagement Foundation to maintain control of their narratives.

“Your identity is defined once, but your expression evolves forever,” she said.

“As a Nigerian , the greatest risk is not a lack of opportunity, but losing control of your central control of resources . We must build systems that allow our people to develop globally without being translated incorrectly.”

Prof Lar stressed that you must allow the state to form its own security command by restructuring it to curb the challenges of insecurity bedeviling our rural areas.

“You don’t depend on the central security control of the federation unit; Every decision must pass through a local community network, and this will either strengthen long-term trust or merely chase short-term attention? If it erodes identity, we protect. If it deepens trust, we evolve,” she stated.

The 2026 Rebirth Group was described as a strategic platform aimed at fostering restructuring of insecurity linkages between the central security control and local community policing. Observers noted that her participation signals increasing interest.
