PRESS RELEASE ON THE NEW HIJRAH YEAR (1436 AH), TASU’A AND ‘ASHOORA FASTINGS I.E. 9TH & 10TH MUHARRAM, 1436 AH FELICITATION
Following the commencement of Muharram 1436 A.H. on Saturday, 25th October, 2014, by the Sultanate Council, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) National Headquarters felicitates with the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria, and the world over on the inception of the new Hijrah calendar 1436 A.H. We particularly wish the President-General, JNI, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, and all his lieutenants across the Nation a prosperous Hijrah year.
The JNI uses this unique opportunity to remind Nigerian Muslims to remain God-fearing, steadfast and be law abiding at all times. Nigerian Muslims are also reminded not to end up in celebrations, forgetting the voluntary fasting known as Tasu’a and ‘Ashoora fastings which the Prophet (SAW) strongly urges us to engage them in fasting.
Therefore, as the dates fall on Sunday, 3rd and Monday, 4th October, 2014 i.e. next tomorrow and the day that comes after it respectively; the Ummah is thus, called upon to fast these days and to as usual pray fervently for development, peace and security in Nigeria, particularly that 2015 General Elections is by the corner. May Allah, the Most High make the New Year a source of abundant blessings and prosperity to us all, Amin.
In the same vein, the Ummah is urged to continuously seek for Allah’s forgiveness, be God-fearing, peaceful, hardworking, steadfast and be introspective about what they do as we are all mortals before the Almighty. Indeed, Allah is Most Forgiving and Merciful.
