A combine team of Mobile Police personnel and a renowned hunter, Ali Kwara, have killed five suspected armed robbers during an exchange of gunfire.
The incident, which happened on Saturday, followed an intelligent report made available to the Police who raided the criminal hideout of the armed robbers in Kunjin/Lodio forest in Bursali District of Zaki Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed, in a statement made available to newsmen in Bauchi at the weekend, said that the gun battle with the armed robbers lasted for over 30 minutes.
He said: “On the 2/4/2016 (Saturday) at about 1200hrs (12:00noon), following intelligence report, a renowned hunter, Ali Kwara in collaboration with a Team of Police mobile personnel attached to him, raided a criminal hideout in Kunjin/Lodio forest in bursali district of Zaki LGA of Bauchi State, and had a fierce gun battle with suspected armed robbers which lasted for more than Thirty minutes.
“As a result, five of the suspects were fatally wounded and rushed to the Federal medical centre Azare, but were certified death on arrival by a medical doctor.”
Mohammed, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said exhibits recovered at the scene include, four AK 47 rifles with beech numbers (03085)(8067),(19076) and (10968)respectively, One locally made revolver pistol.
Other exhibits include One Hundred and Sixty Four (164) rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, Nine rounds of .9mm ammunition, Seven empty magazines, Two expanded ammunition and Cash sum of Seventeen Thousand Naira only
The PPRO said that all the five unidentified Corpses have been deposited at the mortuary at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare, for Autopsy while investigation is in progress.
