Plateau Workers Set To Resume Strike Over Non Payment By Yakubu Busari, Jos
The Plateau State Chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC)and the Join Negotiation Council(TNC) has concluded plan to resume industrial action for non payment salaries allowances of five months.
The Union of Plateau State government gave state government a 7 day ultimatum to pay workers their salaries or face industrial strike.
In a statement made available to Newsmen in Jos, signed by the Acting Secretary Comrade Izang Francis Atsen.
The statement read thus; “after painstakingly reviewed the 14 days ultimatum giving to government as pleaded for understanding up to this moment, workers have not received salaries since six month ago “
He maintained that, the Plateau state council having collectively deliberated on the issue, and has come up with their position.
He explained further that, “a final 7days ultimatum is issued within which the state government is expected to pay workers all outstanding salaries and to address other pending issues or workers will turn down tool at the expiration date of Monday 4th May,2015 ultimatum”.
The statement also reiterated that no among of intimidation will prevent them from embarking on the industrial action which is scheduled to commence on the 4th April, 2015.
