The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Plateau State Chapter has urged the federal and state governments to address the lingering problem of fuel, exchange rate, and food insecurity to prevent violence as hunger increase is gradually pushing Nigerians impatient.
The Tuesday protest witnessed total compliance.
Comrade Eugene Manji while addressing the union members at the Secretariat roundabout on Tuesday lamented the challenge of poor condition of service in Federal and state government.
He charged the government to cushion the effect of suffering by introducing a means of tracking the cost of Foodstuffs, transportation, and fuel subsidy removal.
Eugene explained that the nationwide protest is practically aimed at bringing the attention of the Government to the plight of average Nigerians and finding a solution to the rising dollar and Nara exchange rate in the market.
Comrade Eugene reiterated that people can’t afford essential goods and services owing to the dollar exchange rate and the problem has affected items.
He cautioned the government to take urgent measures towards tackling the problems so that it will not result in insecurity that the federal and state won’t control the situation.
According to him, let the government come and rescue the situation before it escalates into crisis, we see that the exercise is so peaceful not like other states but we are appealing to the appropriate authority to take action.
Eugene stated that the reason for controlling the number of workers that should come out is due to the recent attacks in Bokkos, Mangu , and Barkin-Ladi, that is why we limited those that should come out.
