Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday stirred political interest after referring to the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, as the “incoming Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The remark was made during the commissioning of a 6,000-metric-ton-per-day lithium processing plant in Nasarawa State, where Vice President Shettima represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the official inauguration ceremony.
While acknowledging dignitaries at the event, the Vice President addressed Dr. Akabe as the “incoming Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District come 2027,” a statement that immediately attracted attention among political stakeholders and attendees.
The commissioning of the lithium processing facility marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s solid minerals development agenda, with the project expected to boost local value addition, create employment opportunities, and strengthen the country’s position in the global lithium value chain.
The event was attended by top government officials, industry leaders, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders, underscoring the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting investment and industrialization in the mining sector.
