Plateau Pension Chairperson Warns Staff Against Taking Bribes From Pensioners & Retirees

Yakubu Busari

The former Head of Service ( HOS) Barr. Rauta Joshua Dakok has warned staff of the pension office to avoid collecting bribes from retirees with a promise to influence their death, pension, and gratuity benefits.

The Chairperson of the Pension Board, Mrs (Barr.) Rauta Joshua Dakok stated this during an interactive session held at the pension office in Jos.

She promised to instilled discipline and corruption in monitoring the staff by assuring the Plateau citizens can enjoy their retirement peacefully as plans are underway to clean up all the mess that continues to portray the staff working there in bad light.

According to her, after working and retiring someone else is waiting for them to use their funds by siphoning them, so this office would now be very hot to those civil servants that are eager to cash out.

She urges all the retirees or pension, gratuity, and dead benefits to be careful as they will be getting their benefits in time to build or purchase houses that can help them become landlords.

Rauta vowed to tackle the challenges of corruption as those who are supposed to retire won’t be afraid because their policy was put in place to ensure that retirees get their payment effective under Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang administration.

“I want to tackle the issue of corruption in pension office so that people will be coming in and they can walk in just like they’re working in their home. She added that any of my staff coming to ask for a percentage to be given to them so that those retirees can get their pension should look somewhere else.

She admonished the people to come with confidence to pension office and transact all their business peacefully without any hindrance.

Rauta Joshua Dakok emphasized that the office is wide open to all categories of retirees from 1986 to 2024 as the process is captured by the years of retirement.

She advised the staff against jumping to seek favour which is the worst by collecting bribe to inject files of those that retired within the shortest time.

Dakok stated that the pension office introduced measure to curtail fraud and corruption through mobile banking where money would be transferred to the beneficiaries through the bank account without cash payment.

I have sounded a warning to those that are in the business of receiving bribes to shun anything capable of putting their career in jeopardy.
