A Former Senator representing Southern Senatorial District under Peoples Democratic Party and now governorship aspirant in Plateau State, Senator Cosmas Niagwan, is dead.
Niagwan, who represented Plateau South Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2003 to 2007, died before he got to the hospital where he was rushed after collapsing at about 7:30pm

His Personal Assistant and nephew, Sunday Niagwan, confirmed the death. Sunday said the late senator was hale and hearty before he collapsed.
He was quoted as saying: “He had gone to visit a friend at Festac town in Lagos, but on his way back, he slumped and before he was rushed to the hospital, he passed away.”
The Chairman of the Plateau State chapter of the PDP, Raymond Dabo, said Niagwan’s death was a huge loss to the PDP family.
Dabo said: “We have lost a kind-hearted politician and an elder of the state. “He will be greatly missed.”
Though Niagwan is yet to obtain his expression of interest and nomination forms from the PDP, but posters expressing his intention to vie for the governorship seat of Plateau State have adorned the state for a long time.
The purchase of the forms ends on Friday (today). Niagwan is survived by a wife and six children.
