In a decisive move to combat illegal mining and safeguard the state’s natural resources, the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State has led a crackdown on Illegal Mining in the State.
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, on Friday, 17th July 2026, led a joint team of security personnel on an enforcement operation in Amba Community of Kokona Local Government Area.
The operation resulted in the arrest of several foreign nationals and Local miners who were allegedly engaged in illegal mining activities at the Site.
The action underscores the unwavering commitment of the Nasarawa State Government to enforcing mining regulations, protecting host communities, preserving the environment, and ensuring that the State’s mineral resources are exploited only through lawful and transparent processes.
The Government has reiterated its resolve to continue working with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to eradicate illegal mining and bring offenders to justice.
