Plateau Govt Introduces Five Years Partnership With Dizengoff Company On Climate Change, Food Sufficiency

The Plateau Agricultural Development Programme, PADP, has introduced a project of five years partnership with Dizengoff private company in the state towards addressing numerous challenges of drought as the world faced global climate change and food security between the rural farmers .
The General Manager of Plateau Agriculture Development Programme ,PADP, Mr lshaku Samaila Jilemsam in made this known during the official ceremony held at Dutse Uku ,Jos North Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.
He said ,the program is targeted at poverty deduction ,as the government of Plateau state is building and encouraging households to engage planting items that can feed them .
Samaila Jilemsam stated that the government demonstrated its willingness to intervened in all year farming in boosting food sufficiency in the state under amiable leadership Governor Caleb Mutfwang to achieve meaningful progress .
According to him, with the climate change in Africa ,in past years we usually experience normal rainfalls but the the change affected us with shortest of rainfalls now leading to farmers running into loss so the state partner with Dizengoff company to farmers harsh economic challenges.
He disclosed that the PADP under the five years partnership would provide services of agrochemicals, fertilizers, Greenhouse ,seedlings ,washbores,drilling or boreholes, transportation ,rural access roads,fish fingerings ,and training to farmers in the state.
Jilemsam called on the farmers ,households to take advantage of the program because its households count can save 40 million with the introduction of near seedlings to farmers towards harnessing the potential of farming activities in Plateau state .
He reiterated the important of civil servants engaging in farming which would improve their income even after retirement they still enjoy the fruit of their labour because in sub sahara Africa our main stay is farming.
Also speaking ,the General Manager Dizengoff company ,Mr Oscar Walumbe explained the important of value chain in the new modern farming where farmers get bumper harvest with a small high yield crops which had disease resistance .
He introduced the participants to the variety of seedlings and modern farming techniques to improve their income and family which is throughout the year .
Walumbe noted that the state stand the chance to benefit enough from farming considering that the people are predominantly farmers .
He called on the farmers to form a cooperative society by employing them to listen carefully to the technical aspect that can help them imbibe the spirit of discipline in seasonal activities .
The permanent secretary ministry of work ,Barr.Mrs Yop Pam also said that the women require 35% affirmative action in the modern farming techniques to be provided fo r them.
She stressed that women are the most affected in the households challenges of global climate change and food insecurity so the demand quick intervention.
Yop maintained that it is important that the women should also wake up to plant seedlings that have direct needs of the home front .
Mrs Mary Ezekiel the project manager harped on important of state government intervention on recent climate change in Africa.
She said that the state used to enjoyed normal rainfalls but over two to three years now the weather change and crops continued to dry up due insufficient rainfalls
