Plateau APC faults Dogara’s House committee’s chairmen
The All Progressive Congress (APC) branch in Jos North and Bassa local government areas of Plateau State has faulted the composition of the leadership of House of Representative Committees announced by its Speaker, Yakubu Dogara.
In a statement yesterday in Jos and signed by their chairmen, YaKubu Hassan and Alhassan Ayiki, Jos North and Bassa LGAs respectively, the party described Dogara’s action as a total disregard and unfaithful with ruling party (APC) on whose platform he got the speakership and shared the chairmanship of the standing committees almost on equal basis with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
The statement decried at the formula that selected five chairmen of committees from Plateau with APC gotten one and PDP have four, the statement read, “Jos North/Bassa Federal constituency has the largest voter population in the state which was won by the APC. Five chairmanship slots were given to Plateau, four chairmen & one vice chairman. To our greatest surprise PDP got four while APC got one, with three new members of PDP as against our returning members from the APC”.
The statement queried, “If the speaker is claiming to be fair in his distribution among APC & PDP at the national level, what happened to Plateau state that have eight (8) members two APC & six PDP, five chairmanship position were given, APC got only one PDP got four. This is the first time our constituency is producing a two term member and from a ruling party the APC”.
The statement further advised Dogara to desist from pursuing personal agenda at the detriment of national interest and always remember that demonstrating justice and fairness to all is the foundation for success in leadership, and his posture of just leadership is instrumental to the APC and Mr President drive for positive change in the country.
